Beautiful setting, amazing wines and very friendly family winery.
Our tasting guide was the brother of the owner. The owner is very approachable having engaging conversations with our group for at least 20 minutes. Not very many wineries can offer this friendly family atmosphere which makes for a very relaxing and informative tasting visit.
Regarding the wine. WOW we were very amazed by the quality/taste of all wines tasted. The Old Vine Zin, Cab, and Barbara wines in particular were incredible being better than or equivalent to any other area wineries visited in this area.
The wine club is very cost effective with flexible selections and very reasonable shipping. Highly recommend doing a testing at Rickards and joining the wine club if you enjoy fine wines and also enjoy tasting in a scenic and friendly place.

Great view of Russian river valley and vines enhanced our tasting experience , which was outside on picnic tables. Our engaging server Jay provided us with about 10 different wines to sample. Very knowledgeable about the history of this property. He gave us a tour of the $1.3 wine cave storage facility. The 2019 Left Bank blend was outstanding, combining Cab and several other varietals. The 2019 Petite Syrah was silky with a chocolate aroma. Fun and informative 👍

Absolutely the best time me and my wife have ever had. Dam, good wine, and the staff made us feel like part of the family. The view was great. We will most definitely be back.

Beautiful winery, family friendly, and great wines! We really enjoyed the tasting atmosphere - they even did grape tasting off the vine for the kids and gave out popsicles too. Loved the giant agaves and was happy to snag a small one for myself!

J. Rickards Winery was awesome! Some of the best wine I have drank! The host Ozzy did an amazing job showing us the barrel rooms, walking us through the fields, he was super knowledgable, professional, and friendly! Ozzy made us feel special and important! Ozzy is a world class sommelier FOR SURE and the best one I have ever had on a tour! After going to J. Rickards 1st on our Platypus Wine Tour of 4 vineyards. The following 3 vineyards we had on the tour stunk compared to J. Rickards and Ozzy!

We were former US residents now visiting from Australia. Our ex Houston neighbour recommended that we visit Richard's when on a quick trip to Sonoma County wine region. The welcome was amazing, as were the superb wines we tried. Red blends were outstanding plus the Sauv Blanc . The view is beautiful. Many thanks to Jim, Alex and the team at Richard's.

J. Rickards is a great Sonoma County winery. Friendly, smart staff and off the beaten path. If you're tired of stuffy Napa County wineries, Come to J. Rickards in Northern Sonoma County.

I first learned of J. Rickards two years ago when I attended a Wine Road event and wanted to visit wineries I had not been too before. J. Rickards was on the north end of our itinerary. I enjoyed the relaxed environment and handcrafted wines. My favorite wine was the Old Vine Zinfandel which came from the estate grown vines planted in the early 1900's.

today, I'm writing this review after visiting again this weekend (11/3/18). J. Rickards was participating in the Wine Road Wine and Food Affair. They were pairing a red wine with a Provencal Cassoulet. Plenty of picnic tables and an arbor are available for guests to sit at while enjoying wine. There is a nice variety of wine, whites, reds, blends and late harvest dessert wines. Not sure if these wines are available for purchase anywhere other than the winery.

Located on the north end of the Alexander Valley, J Rickards reaps the rewards of location, location, location. Wonderful wines, great view, off the beaten path, J. Rickards is worth a visit.
