Salad was very fresh, juicy, tasty; Lobster bisque was excellent, very rich flavor, crispy and buttery aromatic. Taco with crab meat, fresh and toasted vege, creamy source, was well balanced, rich. Scallops with buttery cheesy source, was right at pad fried time, it was tender, juicy, could melt in your mouse. The toast duck breast, was with crispy skin, tender meat, sweat and plumy gravy, accompanied by well cooked mushroom, baby potatoes, with layers of taste, and combinations of texture.
The Estate Chardonnay flight (3 cups) was good and paired with the food very well. The ice cream dessert wrapped up the dinner just nice.

The service is very friendly and prompt.

I love this place. Easy to find, easy parking. Great staff. Excellent food. Entree prices are a bit high, but the food is excellent and each entree comes with one or two sides. Nice long bar.

Had the pleasure of having dinner at this establishment with me coworkers last night. Service was excellent and every attention to detail was noted. The menu choices were abundant however not overwhelming. Presentation of meal along with portion sizes were impeccable. You can taste the freshness of every ingredient witching the meal. My favorite was the Alaskan halibut.
Walter Hansel wine and Bistro is a now in my top 5 favorites list.

WOW it's the best summary. The food is beyond greatness. Unique small family owned restaurant hidden in Santa Rosa. Most restaurants bring 1-2 people to wait on your table. We lost count at 4 staff members that were taking care of our table; we felt spoiled.

Absolutely amazing, I cannot recommend this place enough! Everything we tried tasted so good, the staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. We ordered oysters to start, but before they were brought out, the server brought a delicious tomato soup shot. The oysters were great and the vinaigrette that was included was a perfect compliment. Our server helped us pick a great Pinot Noir to accompany our meal. I had the heirloom tomato salad that was very tasty and my friends enjoyed the Caesar salad and creme of asparagus soup.
My entree of Seafood Potato Gnocchi with Maine Lobster was so rich and delicious and the hanger steak and duck dishes that my companions ate were really good, too. Before they brought a small dessert of pistachio gelato, our server brought us a small glass of complimentary Port that really brought the whole meal together. Although the cost of the meal was deservedly a little high, I will definitely come back again.

We had a wonderful dining experience last night! We met up with some friends in Santa Rosa since we were visiting from Los Angeles. The food and service were excellent! It was practically a fine dining experience with a casual atmosphere. The indoor dining area was a tad noisy but it did not diminish our experience. We can’t wait to visit Santa Rosa and Walter Hansel bistro on our next visit!

Went here for Valentine’s Day.
I had:
-lobster bisque: was so salty but good flavor
-beet salad: best thing I had with the goat cheese, beets and arugula—so good!
-sea bass: pretty dry
apple tart: nothing special.

Definitely not worth the price and service was just ok. Guess it sums up most Valentine’s Day prefix menus and experiences
