Today I went in to have a costume altered and he said that it could not be done. I shared kindly that I only needed to wear it once and it did not need to be perfect and tried to make a suggestion on how to make it work. The owner then raised his voice at me saying it was not possible to fix it. When I asked him to stop yelling at me since I was being kind to him. He yelled at me some more. He then screamed at me while I was getting undressed in the changing room. Since I did not have clothes on this made me feel vulnerable. He said I was “stupid” for coming in and asking for the alteration. I replied that he had anger problems and that customers should feel comfortable to ask questions about their garments whether he could repair or not. He was very rude to me and the unfortunate part is that his employees seemed quite used to it. They obviously have to put up with toxic behavior from him repeatedly. I went to Sylvia's Alterations in Monterey and she quickly fitted me and altered my costume perfectly within a day. Her team was kind and they shared this was not the first time a new customer said how mean Van's Tailoring was to them. It is my opinion that he either does not have the skill or the will. Take your business elsewhere!

He's been doing military uniforms for 45 years! It shows he's the best in the business and his prices are beyond reasonable. He will take his time to ask you what you need and he has it done in 24 hours ! So thankful to him!!

Very knowledgeable and experienced in tailoring my Army dress uniform. I hadn't put on my dress uniform since initial training, and it didn't fit me very well at all when the Army gave it to me. Van's a lifesaver.

Every time he comes through not once has
Mr. V's service been less then Stellar. I work across the street from his shop his door & mine face each other's. I see people going in
All day starting at eleven.
I recommend Van's tailor shop. Listen if the service was bad the service members of our community would not go there and I see a branch's of the United States there
I've even seen soilders from other countries frequented the shop.
I mention this because if the service or the work was below par

Van is so nice and has such a can-do attitude. He's helped resize many things for me and is always quick and professional. He takes orders over the phone and always finds time to give you that personal experience when you come in. 10/10!

Do not waste your time or money here. I've been to Van's three times--only one time during which they agreed to repair my item--and I will never go again. The first time I went, they reluctantly patched a hole in a pair of pants but not without some theatrics first. The man who helped me complained and ranted for several minutes about how hard the job would be but eventually agreed to do it for $20. The second time, he refused to shorten a sleeve because it, too, apparently, was too much work. Same story the third time: nope, we won't repair a small hole you have in a pair of pants because it is "too hard." I ended taking my items to the alterations person at Vapor Cleaners who was not only friendly but also happy to help for a very reasonable price (about 1/2 of what Van's charged me).

Brought in my suit jacket that was too big. He slimmed it down and now it looks 10 times better. Did it in less than a week and it only cost a third of the price that a different tailor in town quoted me. I will definitely trust him with my other tailoring in the future.
