Shotokan Karate is a very fun and energetic place to be. Sensei Patrick has tremendous focus and patience in training kids in the art of Karate. He built my son's birthday event from scratch. I contacted several other Dojos in Atascadero requesting a birthday event. Sensei Patrick was the only person who responded to my calls and emails sent and he did it swiftly and with kindness. Since that event, my son has joined Shotokan Karate and is enjoying his training. I highly recommend Shotokan Karate to anyone who wants to be taught by a real expert, someone who is homegrown and meets you where you are.

Patrick Curley's Shotokan Karate school is very unique. First of all, the instructor is great with extensive knowledge. His teaching style is wonderful. He is always very focused,diligent and energetic. He is great with kids and anyone who gets a chance to know him. If anyone would like to join the most promising karate school around, you do not need to go far. It is like a jewel! Once you acquire it, you would not let it go. Atascadero Shotokan has a lot to offer: fun, knowledge and friendship. Patrick Curley has a huge potential that can be known and highly appreciated if people make their first step and get a chance to find out for themselves.

I trained at Atascadero Shotokan for about 6 months, until I had to stop due to a schedule conflict, and Sensei Curley is the best around. His teaching style follows closely to that of traditional Karate and his skill is truly remarkable. Sensei has been training for over 20 years and it shows in his careful attention to detail in every movement. If you are looking for a karate school, you should make this your first stop. You will not regret it!

Atascadero Shotokan Karate is a fantastic dojo.

The instructors, Sensei Curley and Sempi Carpenter are top notch. As a teenager, I trained with a number of different instructors in Southern California, including some living legends. Atascadero Shotokan has provided the best karate instruction I have ever had. Their knowledge, training methods and patience are outstanding.

The facility (dojo), is well-equipped, well-maintained, and clean.

The atmosphere is friendly, and positive and cultivates camaraderie among the students. The training is intense and traditional, yet emphasizes safety.

The instructors are very good at teaching kids. A mixture of patience and discipline pervades.

For adults, Atascadero Shotokan provides a great workout, sound self-defense training and instruction in a classic, non-trendy martial art. Every evening I train, I am glad that I went!

I found this Dojo in January of 2013, I have trained at a Shotokan Dojo when I was younger, and have looked at other schools, but Atascadero Shotokan is by far the BEST Dojo I have found. Sensei Patrick Curley is an awesome instructor, great with the kids, and a great person. I highly recommend Atascadero Shotokan to anyone who has an interest in training in Martial Arts.

Sensei Patrick, along with each instructor is commited to training in the skills if Karate, and those of life for example honor, respect, and commitment just to name a few. The instructors help each individual in their drive to suceed with instruction and fun. I really am impressed with Shotokan Karate.
