We adopted a highly reactive/fearful dog with a really unfortunate past. My husband and I weren’t sure where to start with making him feel safe. Shannon was the one who suggested medications to help manage Moe’s anxiety. There’s no way we could build his confidence and joy if he was constantly battling his fear of EVERYTHING. Long-term medication wasn’t something I had considered before, but Moe was too fearful to handle even one-on-one training. In the beginning, he was on a combination of 3 different medications to help with anxiety. 5 years later, he’s only on one of those. Instead of being afraid of strangers, he’s a major cuddle-bug who approaches everyone with a smile. While he’s never going to be a dog-park dog, he now has a puppy brother who he feels safe playing with. Every dog deserves to love a happy life, and Moe wouldn’t be the happy puppy he is today without Shannon’s help and guidance.

Bitsey took the Ultimate Puppy kindergarten Class with Shannon! She is a very anxious and shy puppy but throughout class Shannon helped her come out of her shell and build her confidence while also learning her basic cues. I am so happy to have built a foundation for my puppy with this class!

Ventura Pet & Wellness Dog Training Center is so Amazing!
All of the trainers love dogs and have their own unique style of training. Each Session builds off of the other.
Shannon is the best and I love doing the Agility with my Malinois. She was so unruly despite her years of training, but Agility bonded us in ways I never imagined. The group of dogs & owners we have been in since the start are great is so much fun watch each dog overcome their fear & craziness!

Shannon is the best. We were working with a highly dog-reactive dog and meeting with Shannon was incredibly informative and educational. Shannon is experienced, personable, and we could truly see how much she cared for our dog and helping us make it work. When she met our dog and we all sat down to talk about the challenges, we immediately felt at ease - she knew exactly what we were going through and the steps we needed to move forward. Dealing with dog reactivity is a feat for sure and we’re so thankful to have met Shannon. We will definitely be back to see Shannon for any other training needs that arise with our dogs. We also can't wait to take one her agility classes!

Shannon has been working with my anxious pup for years and his transformation is incredible! When I adopted him, we couldn't go on walks without him pulling on the leash and barking/lunging at other dogs and people, and just forget about having visitors to the house. Shannon helped us fine-tune his anxiety meds. We did private training at the Vet to help him be more comfortable there and at the house to help when strangers visit. We also did agility with Shannon for years - SO much fun for me and my pup! If I could give 100 stars, I would.

Such a gift! Everything about working with Shannon Riley (Coyner) has been terrific! It was very easy to schedule her, I was able to do the whole thing by email. She arrived on time and did a great assessment of the situation. She figured out that the dog has anxiety, and worked with the veterinarian to get a medication prescribed. She also worked with the owner - an elderly woman - to discuss barking and peeing issues. I highly recommend Ventura Pet Wellness to anyone!

We have been doing agility with Shannon for many years and it's always the highlight of our week! My dog loves going to agility because Shannon approaches learning with positive reinforcement and always has the dog's best interest in mind. She knows each and every dog's comfort level and knows exactly how to teach them so they feel confident in their abilities. Every class, all the dogs go bounding in excitedly because they love Shannon! This is the first dog I have ever owned, so starting agility when he was young helped me learn how to communicate clearly with him and to learn basic obedience commands. Over the years, I have seen great improvement in my dog's ability to concentrate and I love how the exercises increases his endurance and gives him opportunities to learn and solve problems. Ventura Pet Wellness and Dog Training Center is the best and I can't recommend Shannon's services enough! Thank you Shannon for all you teach our fur babies and for teaching us how to be the best owners for our dogs!
