I would like to preface this review by simply stating that I understand how others will have varying experiences when seeking help from a therapist. I am writing this review to inform those who plan on attending sessions with her. To be precise, it worries me that she still continues her practices, especially with adolescents.

My experience:
When I was 13, I saw Cynthia on a weekly basis as I needed assistance with my PTSD. I am now an adult, and withhold the capacity to reflect on how unethically she conducted our sessions. The focus of my therapy was intended to concentrate on my PTSD. However, when I would share my symptoms with her, including my struggles to remain present, she was quick to try diagnosing me with DID. For nearly each session, she would question if I was somebody "new" that day, as she was attempting to convince me that I had multiple personalities. Instances such as these occurred with immense regularity and I eventually began to doubt myself, even questioning if I was really "me".
Moreover, when I would present an issue to Cynthia, she would shift the perspective of the matter and construe it in a way that made my younger self, at 13, feel like I was the problem. Client-centered therapy should NEVER be directed in this way. It is incredibly unethical and dangerous. I was a minor who wanted to heal from the trauma that I underwent, and attending those sessions with Cythnia dramatically hindered my recovery process. I heavily advise against working with this therapist, please seek someone else out who better equipped to offer a safe and secure place for you to heal. Additionally, if you may be a parent wishing to help out your child, I say with genuine sincerity to please NOT bring them to this woman, as it would be a grave mistake.

Cynthia is an exceptional therapist. Compassionate, wise, forthright and never judgmental-- she's been transformational in my life. She understands women, trauma and the psyche in extraordinary depth. I couldn't recommend her enough. She's also put together a really amazing team in the LA Therapy Network.
