The supportive community at this studio is everything!! I got hooked after a Beginner’s Wheel class and never looked back. The studio is expansive and light-filled. The glaze room is phenomenal. I didn’t realize how lucky we were to have mid-fire AND high-fire (reduction) kilns. And the wealth of class & workshop options are always interesting.

I took a beginning wheel class five months ago and the hook got in deep. I took a 2nd class and then became a member. The studio has everything including really good music! The staff are wonderful, helpful and approachable. I've met good people. The studio has become a second home.

Take a class and see what happens. Here's a photo of what I've been able to do after just a few short months.

I’ve been a member of Still Life Clay Company for a year and a half, and I can confidently say they are the reason I fell in love with ceramics. The staff here is not only highly knowledgeable but also incredibly passionate about their craft, making the environment both inspiring and supportive.

The glaze options are truly endless, ranging from cone 5 to cone 10, and having access to a spray booth is a fantastic bonus. The classes offered are amazing—I'm particularly excited for Jorge’s glaze chemistry class. He has a unique way of making complex concepts easy and fun to learn.

Beyond the facilities and classes, Still Life Clay Company fosters a wonderful community of artists. I've met so many incredible people here who share my passion for ceramics. I can't recommend this place enough. 10/10!

Took the "Bowl in One" class. It's absolutely beginner-friendly, the instructor explains everything very clearly and takes you step by step through the whole process. It was my first experience with any ceramics class, and I had so much fun. Would definitely recommend!

We went last night for the Bowl in One class with Aiden. It was super fun. My husband and I went to try something totally new. The studio is clean and full of inspiration. We met other fun people in class too. As a teacher for over 25 years, I can say that Aiden was an exceptional teacher and really made the experience. He was easy to follow and kind with all the newbies as we tried to figure it all out. I would definitely return with friends for another class. We're excited to head back in 3 weeks to pick up our final glazed and fired bowls. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I’ve been a member at Still Life for about a year now and am absolutely blown away. It’s definitely worth stopping in, even if just to take a look at the member-made ceramics available for purchase at the front!

First, the space gorgeous with high ceilings, tons of natural light, and lots of space for students and members - I’m still not over it. Also, FREE RECYCLED CLAY is a game changer for experimentation and exploration.

Second, the studio is incredibly well equipped. Members are expected to invest in their own tools and bats, but there are plenty of communal use tools for sporadic use or testing. There’s also 4 kilns (3 electric, 1 gas) and the studio staff run multiple bisque firings a week, cone 5, cone 6, cone 10 reduction (standard), cone 10 oxidation (less frequent), and lister firings, and a monthly raku workshop. The clay body selection for purchase is huge and the staff are also happy to special order clays, glazes, etc, that aren’t in the studio shop. The glaze selection is fantastic with a wide selection of dip glazed and multiple classes on glaze chemistry and application. Members also get a 25% discount on classes which also grant additional shelf space, and lots of directed and personalized feedback (based on my continuing wheel experiences)

Finally, above all else, the staff and community are incredible. Folks are friendly, eager to chat and form new friendships, and also understanding and respectful of the need for quiet art time. The staff and member volunteers are deeply knowledgeable and helpful, and encouraging of (informed and communication) experimentation in clay body, construction methods, decoration and glazing. But beyond that, they are so supportive of everyone in the community, actively checking in with others as people first, and regularly solicit and act on member feedback and ideas. Also, so fantastic social events organized by members and staff open to the public, like a monthly queer pottery social free (for members)!

I just finished my beginning wheel class and am so glad I signed up and found this studio! It's been incredible to create something with my hands and I love stopping by during open hours and throwing. My teacher Kiki was so patient and great and the welcoming and calming vibe of this studio is incredible! I just signed up for November classes and then thinking about membership next!
