Learning from Kris Finch has been the best decision I've made as an artist. The difference and improvement I see from looking at the my first painting, from my very first class, VS my last painting it's surreal! And only a few weeks of instruction. There are good artists out there, but not all of them know how to teach. Kris is one of those rare people that can do both. I'll continue to learn as much as I can from him as the progress in my art is undeniable.

I have studied with Kris throughout the last decade and always enjoy his classes + expertise. Kris breaks down drawing and painting in a very easy way, so that anyone (regardless of ability) can see improvements in their work almost immediately. I for one have become more confident in my own artwork thanks to Kris’ teaching. You’d be hard pressed to find a better instructor and studio setting with which to learn!

I took Kris's classes 5 times, and he completely changed the way I paint and create. I am normally a collage/mixed media artist but wanted to expand. I tracked him down after everyone in San Diego said he was the one to learn from. I mean everyone. So do yourself a favor, no matter what medium you create in, take a portrait class from Kris.

I have taken many drawing and painting classes over the years and none of them compare to the classes I took with Kris. He is an amazing instructor and is great at working with people of any skill level. I took portrait drawing and painting classes with him and I looked forward to class every week. Kris is very kind and laid back and will make you feel right at home in his classes.

I honestly had no idea I could paint. And now I'm obsessed. Kris' classes (portrait and plein air) are literally the best. He's incredibly patient and so talented. He can come in to help and make one paint stroke and boom it changes the whole painting. For the better! His techniques are super easy to grasp and improvement can be seen so quickly. Super worth it. Take his class!

Kris is the BEST teacher you could ever find!!! He is super talented and invested so much time in developing his gifts. To then be able to translate that to helping me - a complete novice with no art history at all - is phenomenal. He simplified everything for me, is patient, never judged, and made me laugh as I continually made mistakes, and is invested in my success and joy. His creativity in painting different spots always keeps it interesting too. Plus, he is just a really good human that has a heart of gold that I got to see with his love of his wife and family.

Whether you are an advanced artist (like some were in the group) he will challenge you or a novice like me making painting approachable and fun - go! You will love him and grow your talents with his help.
