A detox from busyness: It was well worth every penny and the time/effort. Disconnecting for a few days can be life-changing as it gives the voice deep within yourself time to speak. The 'hard stop from the noisy world' gives your soul a chance to reset by breaking destructive patterns you might not even be aware of until you stop. I appreciate the design of the daily schedule designed to bring us together, offering just enough guidance, a bit of yoga, guided meditation, and just basking in the silence of meditating together. I plan to make this an annual event for myself given I discovered so much gold during the quick 3-days, I look forward to diving deeper for a 4-day retreat next year. Give yourself this gift and discover exactly what you need to hear. The food was great, the beautiful setting, and perfect weather... I can't imagine a more ideal environment. 5-stars!

I attended several silent retreats at the cherished previous Silent Stay location, and while this was a larger group of people and a different feel on a campus, I was so happy to find my heart/inner self, often lost in the hustle and bustle of daily life, in the silence in a new beautiful setting, with a Sanctuary that was available at any time of the day to cocoon yourself in the deep silence. My room (twin bed, shared bathroom) was spartan but comfortable, and I enjoyed having my window cracked open to hear the frogs and birds as I fell asleep and woke up. One big improvement over the previous location's chef (me and my sous chef, Mic Rowave) is the cafeteria, which served yummy food for every dietary need. I felt nourished in both body and soul. Even just the 2 night retreat renewed me. I highly recommend it to anyone feeling "brittle" who needs to unplug but needs a little help doing so. Excellent for meditation newbies as well as those with established practices.

This was a life changing experience for me -to disconnect from all the noise in the world and tune into the sounds within, letting go of the old and embracing the new. The silence allowed me to find my inner child self, who brought me to tears with how much love he has shown me that resides within us all. Ruth & Bruce are the sweetest, most loving humans I have ever met. You instantly feel comfortable in their presence. I feel everyone can benefit from a silent stay retreat. Much love from Matthew Booth

I have had the great fortune of attending retreats at Silent Stay for several years and recently attended a 5-day retreat at their new location in Montecito, CA. As always, the experience was profound, inspiring, healing, and allowed me to connect back to myself, my heart, and to peace. The accommodations were comfortable and lovely (we had a queen bedroom with our own bathroom!), the grounds at Pacifica are absolutely beautiful and a perfect fit for this retreat, and the food was outstanding with a very thoughtful variety for anyone with food restrictions or special diets. Ruth and Bruce guided the retreat with their gentle love, peace, warmth, wisdom, and insights. There is no better gift to give yourself than a gift of a Silent Stay retreat. I could not recommend this more. It is life-changing and an experience from which EVERYONE can benefit.

If you are looking for solace in a beautiful location, a place to heal or grow or contemplate, this is the spot. The location is gorgeous. Your hosts are a steady, calm and loving presence throughout the retreat and the two daily meditations anchor your days with communal practice that is accessible to all. The kitchen is well outfitted for your cooking needs and the hermitage is extremely cozy, clean and well taken care of. The pool and hot tub offer a bit a luxury. I've been for three retreats and look forward to my next one.

This place is a real find. If you crave silence and sense that it would be very supportive for your healing and meditation practice, this is a place where everyone really respects that. I so appreciated how the other guests stayed out of each other's space so that each person got the quiet he or she was seeking. I painted, drew , read, walked, swam, meditated, ate quiet healthy meals and slept like a baby. It was a very supported solitude. Brenda , Ruth and Bruce have paid attention to all the little details that made it so lovely. I am so grateful for the experience and cannot wait to return.

I did a 4 day retreat here. It was good to be in silence for the first day or so but I soon became aware of a very unhealed energy from one of the workers who not only gave off this energy but intruded on me by knocking on my door and asking if I was okay. They can't handle being in their own energy and honoring others' processes. There's too much control and not alot of surrender.
I've done dozens of intensive silent meditation retreats of 5-10 days in the Buddhist tradition and had many deep experiences in these. I don't believe the same type of respect for the inward journey is implemented at this retreat center.
