This is my daughter's second year and my son's first time attending with her. They both had an amazing time this spring. The classes fill up quickly. I booked this class months ago! I did compare to Camp shine a newly founded camp. Whike kids woukd have fun there and classes are 4hrs vs 3 here. This place is better and longer established. More places if shade and better set up. Plus a playground. There is a lot for the kids to do. They learn and tell me of so much after each day. They interact with ranch animals, make nature inspired crafts, go for small hikes, there's a playground they sometimes get to spend some time at which my kids love. They have different themed days its always a good lesson. Today was about birds and nests. Miss Lauren is guiding our kids in the Jr. Ranch class this spring and she's very friendly and answered all my questions. I knew they were in good hands. I hund around lafeyette which is a beautiful city. Lots of near by places for a nice walk/hike. Plenty of nice local restaurants and shops. A Starbucks nearby with nice outdoor seating. While foods near by. I always enjoy my break!

My friend told me about this place. We homeschool and my son is on spectrum. I was SO excited at the potential of my son going here because they actually have a special needs homeschool class! As a special needs parent, this is such a wonderful thing to find a place that makes a point to include our children.
We went on a tour of the facility that took about 30 mins. My son is a very curious and new environments are often a lot for him to take in. Many kids on spectrum are this way. I explained to the teacher that he usually calms down as he knows the environment and the rules. She told me that in more difficult cases, aids are needed to attend class with the child. This makes sense. It's also posted on their website, so I was already expecting that. However, what I was not expecting was a long email after our tour that went through every single thing my son did wrong... I know he was having struggles. I was there! But to regurgitate everything and then continue to list everything I would have to provide in order for you to consider him is a bit uncalled for. It's definitely not how you handle special needs parents who are already told what's wrong with their kid on nearly a daily bases. A better approach would to be to tell me ways you can help him work on these skills or how you can work with me to find ways to accommodate him. Maybe even tell me something you liked about him and why you would like him in your class..
Special needs kids are all going to come with their own set of challenges. So to have a special needs class with only one teacher and expecting the children to be on their best behavior on their very first time there is a bit overreaching. Consider having a teacher with a helper and being a bit more positive to parents who try their best every day. Don't be another person putting our children down or making them not feel worthy of having the same experiences as other, non disabled children.

Excellent, outdoor/survival hands-on learning experiences. Chickens, goats, horses, archery, pottery, tracking, cooking over a fire, learning about plants and trees, making soaps and salves from scratch. The staff are very knowledgeable in all things science/nature.
