I've taken several classes in this place and I want to share my experience with the metal shop and forge specifically Mike Dunn who teaches the welding class and to Seth who led the blacksmithing class for me. There's such a great welcoming and helpful attitude in the space. Even when there is a huge amount of activity and people very focused on their projects, these are clearly people who care about their work and promoting and encouraging others to learn and grow. Have to highly recommend the welding class in particular as Mike who is an extremely competent and accomplished welder will answer every silly question you can come up with again and again and do it patiently while encouraging you, and diving in as deep into whatever topic you'd like. Seth makes some amazing and beautiful knives and was happy to help share his passion encouraging and helping a total newbie (myself) even outside of the class which is really great as these tools and spaces can be intimidating for anyone. Just a really fantastic gem of a place that if you have read this far, you should go check it out.

The tools and machinery they have here are amazing. The shop is clean and well organized. Everyone there is willing to help. And they are super knowledgeable too. I took two welding classes and it was awesome. I highly recommend them. Wish I knew about them sooner.

Our agency partnered with Maketory to host a full-day photoshoot for a line of power tools, and we had a fantastic experience. The Maketory team and members were communicative, accommodating, friendly, and all-around great to work with. The space is tidy and has a little bit of everything, providing us lots of unique areas to shoot. It was fascinating to see the diversity and quality of work being produced there! Looking forward to getting to work with them again in the future.

I attended an introduction to MIG welding and it was amazing. The instructor answered all my questions and showed us a variety of welding techniques. I highly recommend anyone interested in trying welding to attend a class here.

I attended the woodworking workshop with Jerry last week and had a great experience. I was a complete beginner, but the class was for all levels. We received an introduction to all of the woodworking machines, and had the opportunity to use each of them as we crafted our own project which we got to take home. The machines are top of the line, and the facilities are pristine. Think: high end workshop. The staff was super friendly, anybody there is happy to help you. Jerry was a patient instructor and there was a big emphasis on how to use the machines safely. After the intro class, you can explore the memberships to use the facilities on your own, or, if you’re like me, sign up for the next workshop.

Just did a mig welding class with Mike, he was so experienced and made sure we all did great welds during the class and answered all of our questions, definitely worth the money for this class and Ill be back again!

If you are a maker, this place is for you. They have great classes to take whether you live here or coming for a visit. I am bringing a wealth of knowledge for TIG and metal work. Huge thanks to Mike and Eric for the classes.

Great concept, unfortunately priced out of the SD real estate market. A little bit messy in execution there toward the end. Permanently closed as of 19 Dec 2024.
