Now you'd probably wonder how a bike shop could possibly have so many five star reviews, after all it's just a bike shop. My answer to that would be that you just have to go and experience it.
I went there expecting just the typical bike shop experience of dropping off my bike, they do their thing and call me when it is ready. Boy was I wrong. Maine bike works strives to do the exact opposite of your schedule allows it. They prefer to go over the bike with you and explain all the options available. Having you there while the repairs are happening also allows you to see in real time what is happening. There may be things that weren't caught in the initial inspection that may be difficult to explain in a phone call and very difficult to quantify. This, in my personal experience, really enhanced the whole process. I went in for a tune up for a used bike I purchased and left feeling great.
Jason took his time and even went above and beyond to maximize the performance of the bike in the most cost-effective way. After two hours the bike was significantly improved and I couldn't believe how reasonable the price of the repairs were.
Jason apologized for "taking up two hours of my life that I'll never get back," but what he actually did was make bike repairs enjoyable with great conversation, great insight and information about biking in the area, and made me crave an iced Americano.

If you are looking for bike repairs that break the mold, I highly suggest you check this place out. And do yourself a favor and pick up a pink water bottle while you are there, you'll be glad you did.

We went to Jason (and Theron!) at Maine Bike Works for our Co-Motion tandem build because we wanted a smaller shop that would really care about our needs and think through the build. From the moment we stepped in the shop we were treated like long-time customers and got their full attention. Jason was super communicative throughout the fabrication and build process, even working with a third-party vendor to make a custom part for the bike. Theron did a beautiful job on the assembly and build - we couldn't be happier!

These guys ROCK! While on vacation our daughter had an issue with brakes on her bmx bike. We called and someone answered (a real person!) within seconds. Told them our issue and they said, bring it in! We did, and they were fast to take a peek, find the issue and give a recommendation. Very great full for such an honest, caring business as this one.

Consider this review a small token of our appreciation.

I'm so glad I chose to work with Maine Bike Works. This is my first true "new bike", after years of buying second-hand CL bikes. Theron was incredibly helpful throughout the entire build-out process - he was sure to answer all of my questions and keep my design requests and budgetary needs in mind. I could not be more thrilled with the finished product! It also feels great knowing that I can reach out to the guys at MBW for help, advice and support as I dive into the world of bikepacking. Was so excited to learn we have a CoMotion dealer in Maine. Yes they were wicked busy, but still managed to get our tandem all tuned up from it getting shipped from our home in Colorado. Nice shop. Great gear. Talented mechanics.
