Parents trying to find junior golf in Monterey (which barely exists) don’t waste your time with Russo.

2 other sets of Parents and I have had the same experience.

Multiple emails and calls, DM’s, no response. No answer. No engagement.

If you’re a parent looking for junior golf for your kids don’t waste your time.

Justin is a great instructor very knowledgeable of the sport. We look forward to going to his class every week to see what else he teaches us to improve our game and so far it's been great learning alot from Justin keep up the great work.

I do constantly recall when Fort Ord had a military presence....Do miss those times !!
Black Horse Golf Course staff has and are doing an outstanding job..
What is so convenient one could schedule events there that or just have lunch... Either way what a breathtaking view of the ocean.

For me Justin, is super easy to understand. A great teacher is someone that has the ability to take a subject, and present it in terms that anyone, no matter the understanding level, can comprehend. Justin does just that. He show you a simple process, and explains a simple step by step swing idea. By the end of a practice round I felt as if I could take these ideas, and easily implement them into my game.

I’m only giving one star because zero isn’t possible. I took my two boys to his “kids academy” this Saturday. From the start, I noticed there was very little organization. Not only were the instructors not teaching the kids anything, they weren’t even keeping accountability of the kids. Nonetheless, I was withholding my judgement until the end. As they were wrapping up, I asked Justin, the owner, for a little more information about the “academy”....the structure, feedback, activities, etc. Before I could really even complete my sentence, he said that it didn’t look like we were a good fit for the camp. Based on what he’d “observed” of me in my limited interactions with him, he didn’t think the camp was right for us. Although I’m glad he told us we weren’t really welcome there because I was able to get a refund for the $150 I had paid for 8 future classes for my kids, I struggle to remember a professional interaction with someone so defensive, self-doubting and thin-skinned that a customer with the audacity to ask for what exactly they are paying, is effectively told to take his business elsewhere. One of the most unrepentantly rude, thin-skinned, self-righteous individuals with whom I’ve ever had the displeasure of interacting. There are plenty of places to take your kids to golf in Monterey, I would recommend avoiding Justin Russo’s Golf Academy. I would not recommend trusting your kids to him.

Great for juniors, beginners, adults and the competitive golfer looking to invest time and energy on their golf game. Also, the facility is world class with stunning ocean views.
