I had an horrible experience at Johnson Hall. My friend invited me to see Paula Poundstone, who claims to be a comedian. My friend wach some of her act online and it was clean and non-political. I went to see a comedian to laugh and take my mind off my problems. That didn't happen. Poundstone had a political agenda. The two in a half hours was mostly her going into political rants disguised as comedy. More than once she talked about going out to protest. She was encouraging people to go out and protest. At one point she said, "There are more of us then there are of them." At the end she had a call to action. These are the elements found in a political rally. I wanted to leave in the middle of the show. The theater only has one aisle, which is in the center. The rows are so cramed together that there is no walking space in between them. I was near the wall. For me to leave, everyone in the roll would've had to stand up, suck in their stomachs, so I could walk over them. I was trapped. If Johnson Hall wants to host a political rally then they should be upfront and advertise it as a political rally. This event was advertised as a comedy show.

Beautiful venue. Intimate. Seats a bit tight. Might be a tad cramped for the average Mainer. Love having this place back in business in my little town.

This is a beautiful theater. The programming includes high-quality local talent and also some pretty big names. I was surprised to see Ani DiFranco and Bele Fleck on their lists of performances! I highly recommend them.

It was great to be a part of seeing the first film in 68 years shown at Johnson Hall. The movie is absolutely incredible (A Piece of Forest) and the venue is absolutely amazing. The big upgrade to the sound system truly sounds terrific. I definitely recommend going to see a show or event at this venue! Its a real gem in Gardiner Maine.

I’d love it if they had allowed space in front of the stage for dancing. Seems strange to have bands playing great music but not to allow for this. Additionally it feels like we’re stuffed in like sardines! Side asiles are almost non-existent - can’t even imagine safe egress during a fire!

We went to the Pat Cowell Mo town Christmas show and it was fantastic! Johnson Hall did a wonderful job with its renovations and they bring in such great shows. We love having it in our neighborhood!

This is such a beautiful venue to have in Central Maine! Prices are reasonable and I look forward to seeing more shows here. The venue provided a great map with public parking available that was sent a couple days before the event.

We thoroughly enjoyed Ruthie Foster's concert at Johnson Hall last Thursday, October 3, 2024. It was our first time visiting the upstairs theater that re-opened this spring. The $9 million renovations are spectacular in every way: excellent, comfortable seating, great sound system, fantastic bar selections with adult-sized sippy cups you can take to your seat! The decor is clean, spacious, attractive and well designed. There isn't a "bad" seat in the house or balcony. Best of all, the staff is welcoming, friendly and sassy. We will be back!
