Challenging, eventful and educational about ones' self. There's no apology in Comedy, its just the Hard Truth according to ones opinion. If you have mental issues and the psychologist or psychiatrist can't fix you, then run with it with COMEDY... because we are all crazy in the head!!!

I would not recommend the classes. Greg is a legend and is an amazing coach BUT the others in class are weirdos saying all kinds of sexist, racist things that are not funny, and probably just an outlet for the 'confused'. What I DO RECOMMEND highly is is one on one coaching, his joke writing class and his audio book. Invaluable information can be learned from Greg but the classes can be distracting as you have to sit through the delusional.

Greg's stand-up comedy class is excellent.

It starts with the fact that learning joke structure is a game changer for any writer. That was the first step. Then he gets you on stage to practice in a comfortable environment, try the mic etc. You meet a lot of good people along the way and take part in collaborative writing at a writers table. I've taken beginners and advanced, and the advanced class ends in a live show. It's honestly cool that there's not a public show in beginners (there's a private one during class) because it really eases you into it.

The last thing I'll say is Greg has an awesome and supportive attitude. He's clearly a dude that has seen it all and I always appreciate his insight and experience.

I hadn't attempted stand-up for almost 10 years, and Greg helped me to finally get back on stage and have a great time doing it! He, Gayla and Fernando are really supportive and great teachers. They mentor YOU and help cater to your strengths and not simply plug you into a general formula. I guarantee you will have a lot of fun, and they will show you that you are capable of things you didn't think were possible! They will also make you feel good about simply getting up there and trying; it's a really nice environment. Take a chance on having a blast! I am really thankful to Greg and the team for helping me to get back into something I love.

By far the best stand up comedy teacher on the face of the earth. Been trying to commit to comedy for years and Greg finally taught me a methodology I can take with me for the rest of my life. I never thought structure and proven methods of preparation could work so well. Other instructors will simply tell you what material works and what doesn't but Greg gives you the WHY of it all and if you take his class, you'll find that his approach can be applied to more forms of communication than just stand up.

I'm a 52 yr old lawyer. I've always wanted to try stand up comedy, but didn't know where to start. A friend highly recommended Greg. I'm not joking when I say that Greg's class has changed my life. Greg has a lifetime of information and experiences to share with his students. He method of teaching lays a solid foundation to build upon. In the beginner class he goes over the basic joke structure, but to say that he teaches you how to write jokes or be funny misses the point. I could go on and on about all the things Greg has taught me. But the most important thing I've learned from Greg is HOW TO BE PRESENT AND HONEST WITH MYSELF. I've never had a more committed or intelligent teacher who was willing to "GO THERE" with me to get me past my self-doubt, inner critic and all those horrible things lurking in my subconscious that I wasn't even aware was holding me back. If this sounds like therapy, well, that's the mindset I've chosen to adopt for his class. There is literally something for everyone in Greg's class. If you just want to try some one liners, you can do that. If you want to say crazy things that are offensive, you can do that too. If you want to roll around on stage, go for it. Greg is a true artist, he knows his craft, and he wants to share that with the world. THANK YOU GREG!

p.s. His wife Gayla Johnson is awesome too, and she's actually way funnier than Greg. Ha!

I had already been fumbling through stand up performances for almost a year and feeling very frustrated. Writing comedy was a horrible chore because I was so unsure about what the audience would think was funny. Then, thank goodness, someone recommended Greg Dean.

Mr. Dean doesn't teach you " to be funny"...no... he teaches you what MAKES it funny...that any thing can be funny if written if you understand the technique of comedy. Over and over I heard people in the class give thanks for the safe space that he creates so that even the students that are shy feel safe.

There is instruction on writing comedy and there is also the chance to perform in front of the room and constructive notes are given to each performer. In addition, students are encouraged to call between classes - help is as close as the phone.

Mr. Dean also gave me something that greatly improved both my stand-up and my acting. I am not quite sure exactly how he did it, but suddenly I realized that I could relax. I didn't have to over try...I was already there...I just had to realize that the spot I had been searching for was inside me.

I am forever grateful that I somehow had the wisdom to enroll in Greg Deans Stand Up Comedy Classes. In my first performances after my 5 week class, everyone noticed the huge difference in my work.

I'm relatively new to stand up comedy, but I wanted to leave a review because just from the first lesson I understood that Greg is the real deal. His formula for creating jokes, working through them, tweaking them to get the biggest laughs is tried and true. A higher percentage of my newly written jokes get laughs in the first round of testing.

Sometimes he's hard on you, but him being hard on you is way easier than bombing in a room full of people. He wants you to succeed, and if you give him 100% he'll invest 100% back into you. I would highly recommend taking his course, I'm already registered in the advanced course. Working towards a Netflix special (or 10 views on YouTube, I'll take either one).
