I recently started training and I have had a great experience. The instructors and students are very helpful and patient. As a new student everyone has been very welcoming and even more advanced students take the time to teach me something every class. This is a very comfortable environment for all skill levels. I consider myself lucky to have found a great place to train.

The best gym I've been to. If you are looking for a jiu jitsu school that is has a positive atmosphere and high standard for quality training, this is the gym for you.
If you are a beginner, you will paired up in each class with one the higher belts, who are both experienced and approachable. The instructors explain things thoroughly, clearly and at an absorbable rate.
Professors Connor and Natalie, though extremely knowledgable, have a very humble disposition which spreads to others in the gym, so you don't have to deal with people with a "chip on their shoulder."
It's obvious that the professors are diligent about cleanliness and sanitation, because the mats are spick'n'span, and there is not even a hint of a "gym odor." Hygiene is also well kept among the trainees.
The schedule offers a range of times for training sessions, making it possible to work for almost anyone's schedule.
For those who sometimes have to rush to work or school right after class, the location is ideal as well. There is an affordable 24/hr fitness center across the street with showers. This has allowed me to get cleaned up before work or class without having to run home.
The one down side: if you train here, you run the risk of being disappointed with every other gym you visit when traveling.

If you were looking for a place to learn a new skill that may end up, saving your life, or just looking for a great community to work out and get in shape and have fun, this is the place. From the first time walking in the door, I felt welcomed from the professors and all of the fellow training partners over the last two years. The kids program is amazing as well professor Natalie, and all of the amazing coaches really go out of their way to make sure the kids are having fun, but also learning great life lessons and things that they can take with them into the future like self-esteem and respect. I’ve been blessed to watch this gym grow and blossom into something beautiful and I can’t wait to see what the future brings. Joining Gracie Barra Santa Rosa for my first experience with Brazilian jiu-jitsu has been nothing short of amazing. Started out a few weeks ago and had no martial arts coming into it. Everyone has been super respectful and willing to train with me. And the Professors have been great, helping me with any individual issues I’ve had along the way. GBSR is run by two black belts who both have competition experience and have brought home many medals. Connor and Natalie are kind and genuinely care about their students. I have been training since 2010, and I still learn new details in the fundamentals classes. GBSR is a first-class academy with plenty of experience to help every student reach their goals. The atmosphere is welcoming and supportive. The kids classes are amazing! I love walking to the academy and hear the kids scream with joy from outside. It instantly brightens my day and gets me excited about training next.
I highly recommend anyone with an interest in learning self-defense or trying a new physical fitness challenge visit the academy. Take a trip to see it for yourself. I would be stunned if you didn't appreciate what was going on at Gracie Barra Santa Rosa.
