You can sign up for classes using their website, Class Pass or even get a monthly membership (which I did!). It would be worth 91,784,839,538,482 Class Pass credits per class (thankfully it isn't!). Best decision ever!

I have been going to Glute Lab lower body classes 3x a week for about 6 months. Everything about Glute Lab is amazing, especially Dominique the trainer for the 9 a.m. class. Dom has the best vibe, and her class will challenge you in the most fun way. She has a great way about her that pushes you to do more but celebrates where you are. She is making San Diego better, one booty at a time!

Each lower body class starts with hip thrusts on literally the best thrust set up I've ever seen. No more awkward bench or Smith machine thrust -- Bret Contreras has the gym equipped with several different thruster options so you can pick the set up that is most comfortable. You end up doing 1-2 sets to warm-up then they prescribe 4 specific working sets (technique, reps). The thrusts take 20 min. Then, you do rotating stations which are mostly lower-body but 1-2 upper body to even you out. If it is a full class, you partner up but if it is a small class then everyone does each station on their own. After the stations segment, you end with a band burnout using a glute band. That is about 2-3 minutes of banded abductions, kickbacks, glute bridges -- it varies every time.

From the programming at Glute Lab to the amazing vibe, I love everything about this place.

I walked into the glute lab not knowing much of Bret or the hip thrust. My small friend dragged me in. I met Dom and immediately loved her energy. It’s easy to be intimidated by her strength but her vibe is very inviting. She is very knowledgeable in strong lifting. Her encouragement made me want to buy a ten pack. And then another ten pack. She has a way of pushing you in a very non contentious way. Now having a membership and working with the other two trainers, they all bring something special to the Glute lab. Elizabeth is just overwhelmingly sweet and motivating. And I feel I get a workout and a micro therapy session in with Natilee. We’ve bonded over our love for self growth, running and donuts. All three ladies are fantastic in their own way. All classes are upbeat and filled with nothing but positivity! Dom is a gem though. She’s the diamond Bret never rid of. She’s that cool where she should have her own hashtag!#bootybyDom?

I’ve been looking for ages for a gym that wasn’t CrossFit/plyometrics ( don’t give me another burpee or I’ll…) but was interactive, with coached /programed weightlifting AND had some natural light and I’ve found it! Love the gym, the people, the trainers who walk the walk and coach without pretense. Just wish there were more daytime classes for people with kids in school ( a 10 am, a 12 noon) and a monthly unlimited membership

Trainer Dom Scott was amazing and very knowledgeable! The training session was the encouragement I needed to get back into weightlifting that I missed so much but didn’t know how to.

So far my experience has been great. There are two new trainers, so disregard the review that has been left for Alex. Lol as for the one star Starbucks and Prius review, I’m not really sure where she was going with that review in terms of the training offered at the Glute Lab. I was able to book training sessions the minute they advertised availability on the Glute Lab Instagram page. I chose Ashley as my trainer and I really have had an amazing time training with her. She is kind, humorous, and knowledgeable. You can tell she is really passionate about personal training. Her overall vibe really just pushes you to work harder and achieve your goals. Adam is a cool trainer as well. Bret is cool and sometimes I really still can’t believe I train in his gym since he is well known in the strength and conditioning world. I enjoy coming to my training sessions because the atmosphere is fun with the trainers and the clients. We all have different goals in terms of fitness. However, with the two new trainers working under the mentorship of Bret Contreras, this is truly a great place to learn and grow.

I visited Glute Lab for a drop in 2 weeks ago (I live on the East Coast) and can't say enough positive things about this facility. Had the pleasure of working with Alex Sterner and he was great, made me feel comfortable and helped me fix issues in my technique that no one else has been able to spot in years. If you are in San Diego and trying to be your best self with regards to strength and physique, the Glute Lab is a must.

It’s not often you get to train with one of the highest level sports science specialists in the world. Not to mention Bret has so many incredible and unique machines and equipment pieces at the Glute Lab. Including machines that he’s built himself or modified that don’t exist anywhere else. If you have to ability to do a session with ‘the Glute Guy’ you should definitely make it happen. His training is not just for ladies trying to grow their glutes but it’s very appropriate for athletic performance and anyone trying get stronger and move faster!
