Charming, unique, welcoming.

I had a very pleasant experience here at the Glen Tavern Inn for the following reasons:

The front desk employees, Stephanie and Sylvia, were very kind and informative when we checked in and out. I really appreciated their customer service and assistance. I always take into account how the check in process goes and they did a really awesome job. Awhile after we checked out, I realized I had accidentally left behind my new cardigan in the closet and they were able to retrieve it for me.

The lobby was absolutely beautiful and unique, had a very woodsy and warm vibe with awesome decor and even a bar/restaurant located inside. There’s a nice gazebo outside and a few tables and chairs that I took advantage of sitting at with the company I was with before we went back up to our room.

The doors lock after hours which I thought was a really secure feature, but there’s a code to get back in only for those staying at the hotel. I wish all hotels had this!

The room itself was quaint but very nice. It had a very comfortable queen sized bed with FIRM pillows (a rarity in hotels), a fridge, closet, desk, ac unit and restroom. The restroom itself was different in the sense that there was a step to get in so just a heads up, however we had no problem with it, as there was also a sign that stated so and they had warned us about it while checking in.

We were able to sleep very peacefully and weren’t disturbed by other rooms. The walls were not like other hotels where you can hear every little thing going on that disrupts your sleep.

Overall, my stay was pleasant enough for us to return next time we’re in the area, it exceeded our standards and was very affordable as well!

I've had one stay on floor two, two stays on floor three, and one stay in the detached cottage building. If you seek nostalgia you'll feel right at home. The reason I stayed at the cottage is the original room I reserved was booked an extra night for a wedding party. No charge added for the bigger cottage. I don't have a dog, but I understand the Inn is dog friendly.

I’ve never stayed in one of the rooms there so far, but it’s a very pretty inn. The ghost tour is fun and the atmosphere is awesome all year! The live music is wonderful, but the musician himself creeped me out the last time I was there. To be fair, I go to Glen Tavern pretty often, but it still made me uncomfortable. And there are risqué vintage posters all over the place (some of which are fetishistic!), which doesn’t bother me a lot personally, but I could definitely do without the creepy photo of a naked man that’s on the restroom wall. I’m surprised it doesn’t seem to make my mom uncomfortable. I really like the atmosphere of Glen Tavern. It’s definitely the highlight, and I’d probably like to stay there sometime. However, the ghosts aren’t what creep me out, and the desert is awful.

Really cool place, old character, nice charm, awesome woodwork, cool movie pictures everywhere, front desk super nice and helpful. Great restaurant attached to it which is a plus. Amenities were suitable, ice coffee TV Internet, wife loved the bed and pillows! A historic place, didn't see or hear any ghost 👻 though. Could have used some she's on the windows and a bit cleaner hardwood floor, ask else was clean and nice parking in the back.

Super cool building, amenities are pretty basic but we had a great stay and staff were helpful.

We stayed here after spending the day at Six Flags, and we found our single-queen-bed room comfortable, quiet, and clean. The bedding was impeccable, mattress was fairly new (and rather soft, which isn't usually my thing, but I woke up without back issues so I'll call it not "too" soft). The building is from 1911, so electric and plumbing were later additions and the electric in particular isn't extremely reliable -- but I think that's part of the charm. Front desk lady was extremely fast to get the building guy upstairs when I called about the A/C unit not being responsive (all it took was a few tries with the On button; again: older building).

Internet may be patchy in parts of building. Room has water, coffee, shampoo/conditioner are the no-fuss variety. Didn't try the TV. Slept great, and both of us are light sleepers who are very sensitive to noise. On a busier weekend the hallway activity would be more audible but the padded carpet definitely helps.

My wife and I spent the past nine days at the Glen Tavern Inn. We'd been to Santa Paula a few years ago, pre-Covid, and made a quick visit to the Glen, which we discovered just walking around town. It's a very walkable town. As we wanted to take in this year's Ojai Music Festival, we decided to hole up in Santa Paula at the Glen. Stay out of the fray. Even with the unexpected closure of SR150--due to a mudslide--the to/from Ojai commute was a breeze--everyday. No problem. If you want to slow down; to get out of Dodge; to have some peace and quiet; to be in a small community that pretty much closes up at 9PM, but has cafés, restaurants, bars, art and historical museums, live theater, antique and curio shops, and convenience stores--all within walking distance, Santa Paula is the place. And if you want to stay in a cool historical hotel with a great restaurant, a fantastic lobby, and some of the nicest staff you will ever meet, the Glen Tavern Inn it is. It's old, like 1911 old, so if you have mobility issues, you might want to address them up front, as there are no elevators, but there is a ramp at the front entrance and ample rooms on the first floor. As I booked our stay, I called well in advance to discuss a few of our needs. I spoke with Stephanie and Vanessa (two exceptional young ladies), who bent over backward to accommodate us. The night we arrived, we were greeted at the front desk by Sylvia and Matthew, the hotel's manager. From phone contact to our departure, we can find nothing to complain about. All the people mentioned, plus a few whose names we didn't get, are a cut above and really made our stay just wonderful. Simply charming accommodations with lots of history to learn about. If you're a traveler looking to enrich your life experience, do yourself a favor and book some restful time at the Glen Tavern Inn in Santa Paula, California. You'll have stories to tell when you go home.--David & Christine, Long Beach, California

I really wanted to like this hotel, but it just wasn't too great. I paid $160 for my partner and I to spend 1 night here. The atmosphere was amazing, the decor and vibes were rustic.
The room was probably the worst bit. The tub struggled to drain and the toilet ended up gushing water so we had to move rooms. The receptionist was very friendly and moved us immediately.
The bed was really stiff and uncomfortable. Again, the vibes and the look was very haunted-esc, but it just wasn't comfortable. The TV reception was super slow, the room smelled dusty, and it was a bit dirty.
Overall, wouldn't stay again, but it was a cool thing to do one time.
