We hired Blue Ribbon to finish our attic and refinish our floors and couldn't be happier with the process and outcome. From the beginning working with Billy Dodd I knew that we would be in good hands throughout the project. We had a great experience with Blue Ribbon, which we contracted to design and build a screened porch, using the foundation of our existing deck, and replace the decking, railing and stairs of the unscreened portion with Trex composite material. We were particularly impressed with the quality of work from their dedicated subcontractors -- the framing and finish carpentry were meticulous, as was the painting. We had a very good project manager and are thrilled with the results. We've had several people see the porch and remark that it looks like it has always been part of our house. We'd work with Blue Ribbon again without hesitation.

The planning and design was a really fun process, Billy D. was very helpful getting all the specifics nailed down for a functional workshop. They had no problem with me pulling a permit and doing my own mechanical which was an awesome suprise.

We had a couple significant delays and problems with our project manager when we started. We’re told that person is no longer at blue ribbon, though.

When Jeff K. was added to our project he was able to nail down and resolve all previous issues and any that came up, answered all questions, and was on top of everything. He made it feel like our project was priority which is comforting. We’re grateful for his intervention. We would feel comfortable recommending blue ribbon to our family and friends for that reason!

The warranty they provide has been great, and we've had quick responses getting things like settling cracks taken care of.

We had our attic space finished by Blue Ribbon last year. While other construction companies I vetted communicated with me through salespeople, Blue Ribbon's owner John Sperath was my initial contact. John quickly revealed an impressive knowledge of the construction process and laid out a detailed vision of the attic's transformation. The most impressive part was how Blue Ribbon gave us a day-to-day schedule of how the construction would proceed with and they KEPT TO THAT SCHEDULE as well as to the budget.

We are extremely pleased with how the attic turned out. All of the subcontractors were very professional and respectful of our space and family. Our project manager Jeremiah was always helpful and responsive to any questions we had, even months after the project completed. Blue Ribbon would definitely be my go-to for any future project.

Our experience with Blue Ribbon was stressful from start to finish. Despite their recent ownership change, we encountered constant errors and poor communication during our 15-week kitchen renovation and sunroom addition.

The demo crew removed flooring that wasn’t in scope, and our kitchen was demolished weeks earlier than necessary, adding to our disruption. We faced repeated issues with trades, including plumbing leaks that led to standing water in our basement, and numerous incorrect material orders, such as wrong doors, windows, and countertop cuts.

Blue Ribbon’s project management was frustratingly disorganized. Contractors often arrived without knowing what to do, requiring us to explain the plan repeatedly. The communication platform, CoConstruct, was poorly maintained, with vague or delayed updates, leaving us to chase information constantly. Despite paying a significant portion of the overall project cost for overhead and supervision, we ended up managing trades on site, catching mistakes, and pushing for updates ourselves.

Our cabinet design did not properly accommodate the specific fridge we requested, leading us to replace it at our own cost due to poor design execution. While we are happy with the renovation’s final result, it is only due to our own involvement, time, and extra expenses; not what we expected when hiring a design-build company. We would never recommend Blue Ribbon after such a disappointing and exhausting experience.

My wife and I just finished up a garage conversion to bedroom and whole house renovation with Blue Ribbon. We couldn’t be more pleased with the how things turned out, our ceilings went from 90s popped corn to silky smooth and perfect, we’re in love with our hardwood floors and my teenaged daughters LOVE their gigantic bedroom!

We got BR during a transition period which saw ownership change, though there were a couple rough spots along the way their staff are amazing and very helpful. Of special note the CoConstruct software they use to help you stay on top of your reno is an aboslutely amazing tool. If you find yourself with a major project I would strongly urge you consider Blue Ribbon. You won’t be disappointed with the results.
