I had the pleasure of taking the 8 week course with Steve Albright. He is the best instructor I could ask for, he kept the class engaging and fun, but most importantly I learned so much from him.
If you are thinking about signing up for the Academy, sign up with Steve, you’ll have a blast and learn so much.

I took the 5-weeks course with Scott Atkins. The class was really fun and wasn't ever boring. It is a lot of work but it's not hard work. If you read the book you will be just fine. Don't fall behind. The instructor is incredibly nice and was fair. We had a lot of other skill instructors who were really nice. Enjoyable class and great environment.

I highly recommend the 8 week EMT course. You'll give ring-down reports in the back of a moving ambulance and drag your classmates out of a ditch on a backboard. It's the best quality training you could ask for. It also happens to be a lot of fun.

It is important to note that the course is a LOT of work. 20 hours of in-person class + 100-200 pages of reading + 2 exams/week. You'll also have to dedicate at least three non-class days to riding along in an ambulance. However, Instructor Albright is the best teacher I've ever had. His engaging lectures and stories make the 10 hour skill days fly by. If you're willing to put in the time the EMT class will be an extremely rewarding experience.

I had an incredible experience during my 8-week BATA EMT course. Initially, I was skeptical about learning so much in such a short time, with no science or medical background, and especially since many programs are semester-long. However, I feel thoroughly prepared for a career as an EMT after the 8 weeks!

Instructor Albright is truly exceptional—easily the best, most passionate teacher I’ve ever had. His energy and humor made every five-hour evening class engaging and something I genuinely looked forward to, even after long days. Beyond the material, I appreciated how much he emphasized the importance of becoming a compassionate, empathetic provider, which has deeply impacted the type of EMT I will become.

The course also provided excellent industry connections, further solidifying my confidence in choosing BATA. While I’m sad it’s over, I’m immensely grateful for the amazing instruction and support. I highly recommend this program to anyone serious about becoming an EMT! 🙂

I loved this course so much! Scott Atkins is the instructor for the 5-week Santa Clara course, and is possibly the best instructor I’ve ever had the privilege of taking. This course covers numerous skills and an entire 1600 page textbook in a matter of 20 days, but the course felt perfectly paced and I wish it were longer because of how much fun it was! Please do the reading ahead of time and be prepared to put in the work, the instructors are some of the very best, you will learn so much and have fun!

I could not have any higher praise than I do for Bay Area Training Academy, the program, curriculum, and instructors are top-notch. In an 8 week course, I have felt so confident in my learning ability thanks to the specialized accelerated course that BATA provides. While bringing every student to above NREMT standards, they also have had an amazing opportunity for 1 on 1 learning, between the skills instructors and the personalization of the course. Instructor Albright could not have been any better, and taught all of us EMT competency and then some, adding personal experiences, field knowledge, and the special way he teaches; focusing on hands-on learning and attention grabbing lessons. I have zero regrets about my choice to take BATA, and fully recommend to anyone and everyone looking for the best EMS Academy in the area. I hope you choose Instructor Albright as well, as he goes down as #1 in my book.

I completed the five week accelerated course with Scott Atkins and loved every minute! Scott is a great instructor who really cares about his students and teaches valuable lessons related and unrelated to EMT. I am leaving BATA feeling very prepared for the NREMT exam, and confident in my abilities to get hired and work as an EMT! Highly recommend this course 🙂

I recently completed a 7-week course, and I could not recommend this course more. At first, I was concerned about the short timeline of the course because typically at a junior college the course takes six months. Two days after completing the course I passed the national registry exam, and I feel prepared to join the workforce as an EMT. The course was taught by Instructors Albright and Sylvia, and both instructors prepared our class not only to pass the national exam, but also shared their experiences to help us be better prepared and make a positive impact on the field of EMS. If you are someone who can work hard and stay disciplined than this is the right course for you. The instructors will prepare you if you are willing to put in the work to learn. Best of luck to future EMT's!
