basically the equivalent of a large blick art store! they have almost anything you can need for any art project and are very accommodating in ordering specific items for you if they don't have them in-store. friendly and knowledgeable staff, and in an easy-access location with parking options nearby

We love this place it has been around for generations of artists in my family, and it is locally owned! We are lucky in Santa Barbara that it isn’t a Michael’s store, far better quality!
-sometimes they don’t answer the phone but they are wonderful.

It's nice to be able to visit a true art store. Their selection of items to art is generous and the staff are willing to take their time to help. I left the Store with what I needed and happy. I am glad we still have a real Art store

One of the best art stores I've ever been to and definitely the best one in the Santa Barbara area. Amazing selection of everything from more affordable to professional quality supplies for every medium.

Come here if you're looking to draw, paint, print, sculpt, frame, or anything else essentially and you'll be in good hands regardless of experience level as the staff are very friendly and clearly very knowledgeable about art and the supplies they stock. The employees are always quick to help but also great about letting customers take their time browsing, which is nice since it's easy to lose track of time looking at everything!

All in all one of my favorite spots in SB and a business worth supporting.

Art Essentials is a marvelous store. They even created a shrine a couple of times for my students to find their art supplies in a special section of the store! They also take special orders for their customers!

Always love this local staple, there is no better art store in Santa Barbara for basic supplies to your more specialized medium and the tools that go with it. The staff is great and more than helpful when I have been there, but they will also give you your space and let you browse around and do your thing. Now I know that they have a area in the back of the store that does framing which I have no idea about the quality or price so just a review of art supplies and staff
