My stepson and I couldn’t resist building light sabers at Disneyland. Yeah it’s a little pricey and perhaps overpriced but the experience was cool and the light saber itself is actually a pretty quality piece. If you’re at all a major Star Wars fan of any age I recommend building a your own Lightsaber. We paid a little extra to have them shipped home. Also, if you’re considering the display stand, get them there since the display stands are not sold online.

Fun and very cool. The hilt of the lightsaber is great quality in my opinion. The blade with light not so much. If you want a good quality lightsaber all around get one online but this experience with my son was great.

“Dad, I want to build my own lightsaber! We can do that in Disney. Let’s do that please. It’s kinda expensive. But we get to build our own lightsaber!”

So, there’s my second reason for this particular visit to Disneyland. My young son has grown to become quite the Star Wars fan (in his own rather cute way; obsessed with the light, obsessed with being good). I spoke nothing of this as I didn’t want to risk disappointing him *IF* anything were to happen as he really locks onto (and keeps) promises like it were a binding legal document. Not to mention, knowing how he gets, we would not have enjoyed anything else in the park until the “mission” is complete.

(Though an appointment was recommended, someone had advised me that it wasn’t necessary on weekdays as there were multiple openings throughout the day if you were willing to be flexible.)

We made our way around most of the theme park as we had done in the past before heading towards the Star Wars area. It really amused me watching his attitude slowly shift as we got closer. His eyes eventually lit up as he turned to me and said, “DAD, I know a place here where we can build a lightsaber!”

Long story short, he asked every person in uniform or anyone peddling lightsabers where this workshop was. Everyone in true Disney form gave him all the attention he could hope for and directed him closer and closer to the workshop. Once there, he started conversing with the staff using theme lingo that made me feel quite old and outdated. All I had to do then at the right moment was pass them my card and wait in line with him.

It was an interesting experience - short but sweet. Watching my young one being this excited, happy, and carefree…is easily worth any dollar and effort. It was a really short workshop but it allowed fans to geek out quite a bit (as could also be observed with the other adults in there with us)…and that just adds to the overall magic that Disney already offers.

Build your own lightsaber - check.
Feel like you’re part of the resistance - check.
Harness the force and become a Jedi - check.
Walk out like a boss - check.

Priceless.

My husband and I did this experience a few hours before the May 4th Disneyland party. We each purchased a light saber. It was fun to get the pins, and I’m glad they gave us a carrier. There are a lot of options, and the quality of the saber is really good. Having said that, I want to echo some of the other reviews on hear that stated that, they also felt rushed. This is not a cheap experience; it’s $250. The cast member for our show was not very good. I felt like she was just reading off of the paper. I was rushed while we were building our light saber. One of the cast members assisting had to do some parts for me because they were moving so quickly. I am not a slow person. They also didn’t take time to show us how to put batteries in or how to change out the crystals. I really think that Disney needs to up their game with this. I would like to give it another try, so if I do, I will update my review. But I hope Disney reads this and takes into consideration the many people stating that it’s a rushed experience and it could be better.

You can get that coin, which is considered a gift card, that I put at the end of my pictures. Each of those gift coins, you have to put at least $100 on, so we did it before we paid for our light sabers. We did it at the droid depot, and the coin does cost five dollars, but you can reload it anytime and it’s kind of fun to be in galaxies edge and use that coin.

So there are people saying what a waste of money and the materials are cheep and trashy. To you I say Ha! This was worth the 230$ hands down, the sabers are made of real steel and the glow and sound effects are a cool feature. The actor did great and we enjoyed his presentation. Anyone saying this was a waste of money or time must have super high expectations. If you are a starwars fan and can afford it I'd say do this for sure. Even after me and my boys where exghusted at the end of the day this even woke us up and put a little pep in our step. I'm glad I got one of these sabers and I'm excited to get it mounted on my wall at home.

This place really enhances your Disneyland experience! The parts are mostly metal and it was like watching a show. This place is pricey so be ready to factor in the price into your trip. Come to the workshop with some idea about what you want to build. There are 2 drawers in the front counter that have the parts. You can touch and feel them before you build. Really fun experience!

The crew on duty at 12:05 on 1/14/2025 was amazing and went above and beyond to help a fellow nerd out. I wish I had gotten their names but they deserve an award

The most fun a Dad and Son can have together! Skylar was an amazing cast member. She listened to my son go on and on about Star Wars. We made a real connection with her to where we wanted to go back and visit. She gave my son a complimentary kyber crystal from her own collection. You can’t ask for a better experience for a core memory. I highly recommend visiting.
