Sorely disappointed as the reviewer before me sadly had the exact same incident happen to her that I did. I took my son (5) to swim and was told that I couldn't take him into the women's locker room with me, that we were to go to the "family locker room". When I looked at the family locker room---it doesn't exist. It is an "ALL GENDER" bathroom in which we have encountered men in there with zero children--to his own right to be there because this establishment enabled this lack of appropriate boundaries to protect our children. Women want to screech they are uncomfortable with my child being in a locker room with them, but are OK subjecting me and my child to having to change and shower with grown men without children Where is the moral here Why is the family locker room made into an all genders bathroom Why are the children the ones to be subjected to this Why are there no curtains or stalls for the children to shower with Why is the safety of children not coming before the comfort of adults, who are fully capable of wrapping themselves in a towel and changing in a changing station if they don't want to be "seen" by a child? Especially if an "ALL GENDERS" bathroom is that important to this place. Why is the answer is to appease the singles, and force this on families and children? The YMCA credits themselves as an establishment FOR CHILDREN. Where is the protection of our children As if predators don't exist because it is a YMCA? Clearly, as I'm now the second mother to come forward and speak of the outcome of this decision, the repercussions are happening and nothing is being done to stop it. Why would any grown man choose to go into a locker room where small children will be changing, when there is a men's locker room designated specifically for them? It's not normal, and it's not right. Children's protection rights should come first.

We switched YMCA's because of this. I could not believe the lack of consciousness of this branch, even after complaining to staff.

----Editing this as I am not able to reply to their passive aggressive response.

Yes. I was a member. Not everyone uses their legal name on Google..Seriously? By that desperate attempt to discredit my voice, they know how wrong what they're doing is. It's shameful and embarrassing behavior, but again, for anyone reading this & considering this place for a family gym---this is how you will be treated when giving them feedback they don't want to hear. Am I being heard and sympathized with? No. I'm being gas-lit and told there is no issue. That I am the issue. My issue with the issue is the issue. Now I don't even exist. I'm fake. My son and I were never there. THEY are the victims here--they're perfect! Look at their credits! --I don't care. Myself, and other parents are telling them there is an issue and they're refusing to open their ears and listen to us. But OK! Let's recap that response.

They admit they do not have a "Family Locker room" as everyone kept telling me to take my young son and I to. They have an "All Genders Bathroom." Great--we agree. They do not accommodate families. An all genders bathroom is a higher priority to this place, than families having a designated place to go, just like the women and men do, but they also don't want to allow mother's to take their small children into the bathroom with them. OK! They stand by their policies and their decisions, and see nothing wrong with this set up at all. They don't care if anyone is uncomfortable or doesn't feel safe. OK! Great. They don't think children deserve the same privacy of having shower curtains as every other shower room has, and are OK with them showering in front of strangers who have no kids. OK! Good to know--and glad I left. I am BEYOND grateful to the new YMCA we switched to, which provides a FAMILIES ONLY locker room. With curtains on every shower. They have high standards for the safety and comfort of all who enter its doors and know how to make their members feel valued.

This is by far the worst YMCA I have ever been to. Their policies for locker room allocations are completely out of wack children are only allowed in the all gender bathroom where any person can go in including creepy men who followed me and my 3 year old daughter around until I ran out with her to the woman’s locker room where we were berated because a woman didn’t want my three year old daughter to look at her. So the safety and well being of our children are of no concern but some self conscious woman are to protected again innocent children. I have no words and this facility should be ashamed of themselves!

Diego from the front desk is so welcoming. My friend was visiting for the 1st time & she got a wonderful first impression of the Y thanks to him. I really appreciate his friendly, relaxed & professional demeanor. In regards to instructors, Sarah Utso is the best. She's hilarious, talented & caring. I've been taking her zumba class for years now & find it so fun. Plus, she's probably the only instructor there that NEVER calls out or cancels class. Please hire more humans like Diego & Sarah!?

Great place to work out and swim. They have great equipment. The staff leaves you alone and they don’t try to sell you anything.

It's great. It's LGBTQIA+ ally/advocate and safe space. The employees are all very friendly. The only problem is the guests that refuse to wipe down the equipment after they use it... the disgusting, filthy, entitled guests that go there are the only problem.

Terrible experience with the Burbank YMCA, don't recommend it!

We took our daughter here for a month for swim classes. During the last class we had to rinse off using a cold shower (apparently there were issues with the heater), and there weren't enough changing rooms, so our daughter had to wait for one while she was freezing cold. We then decided to cancel our membership. Our daughter was on a wait list for a class and the supervising instructor told us we could wait until the last day of the month to cancel our membership for the next month, in case spots would open up last minute. We went ahead and signed up with a different YMCA and cancelled the Burbank membership, three days before the end of the month - but were then told that we had to cancel five days the end of the month. We were charged for another full month, but were told we could put in a refund request. We didn't hear anything back for weeks, and when we called to inquire we were told that the refund request was denied and that the supervisor "didn't speak for membership", and we ended up having to pay for two YMCA memberships.

Avoid this place at all costs. Staff is inexperienced, rude, and have "God complex". Overcrowded pools which can not be used by children who can swim. Only youth 14 years and older can use lap swimming pool. Impossible to sign up for any lessons.
