Marin Improv has been an incredible experience for me! As a current student, I feel really supported in this safe and welcoming space, surrounded by talented individuals who are all focused on growing and helping one another. The small class size is a big plus—it means we’re always active, constantly on our feet, and actually participating in exercises rather than waiting for our turn. Drew, our instructor, is amazing—his energy is contagious, and it's clear he genuinely cares about each of his students. It’s a great environment to learn and improve in!

I am so grateful to have Improv Marin in our community. Drew is an amazing teacher and what he’s doing with the school and his theater are such a gift. Improv is not only an art form, but a lifestyle, and Drew and his team embody that beautifully. Thank you, Improv Marin!

Drew is an excellent improv coach. He immediately gives helpful, precise suggestions in the moment. He explains what the audience expects or wants to see from the improviser. He is also easy on the ego.

I'm hooked! I've taken improv classes before but Improv Marin is definitely my favorite. In Lisa's class we move quickly from simple exercise to doing really fun scene work.
Also, the Thursday night community play is so great. We support each other so that's good for the nerves that are a natural part of doing anything new.

I was hooked from my first class! Not only was it super fun to play pretend (which we grownups must give ourselves permission to do more often), I knew the gift of improv was going to help me pivot more easily in the workplace (it has!).
Yes, I was definitely out of my comfort zone, but it was obvious from the get that Improv Marin has built and nurtured a safe environment in which to have fun in the unknown!

I can honestly say that both improv in general - and Improv Marin in particular -have changed my life for the better.

Twice now when I've moved to a new city and didn't know anyone, improv classes have provided opportunities to laugh, venture out of my comfort zone, and meet warm and friendly people. Improv classes are ideal places to have fun and connect... particularly for an introvert like myself.

Drew Merit, Artistic Director at Improv Marin, excels at creating a sense of community between people.

He is also the head coach and creates a fun and safe place to learn.

In addition, Improv Marin puts on improv shows which I've had the pleasure to perform in: a great opportunity for growth and do one of the most fun things in the world -- make people laugh!

The best thing about IMPROV MARIN is one learns how to grow by doing a lot of the exercises and games. Getting comfortable around other people, learn communication skills and learn to listen and interact with people who don’t know which has a tremendous effect on self-confidence. It’s fun and there is a lot of laughter and laughter is key to living well.

I gotta admit I was terrified of getting up in front of people and performing, especially something that was extemporaneous. So I figured I’d challenge myself. Drew provides a really safe and supportive environment to make and embrace mistakes. Did my first show with classmates and it felt great - looking forward to more!
